About Baobab Online
Baobab Online sells African books and design: books by writers from across Africa, design files drawn from African life, and custom design from our studio. It is run by Baobab Technologies Limited, from Kampala, Uganda.
Books
Novels, memoirs, poetry and children's books from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Sudan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, plus collections and class sets for schools and reading groups. We buy our books from their publishers and hold stock in Kampala.
Design files

- Seamless patterns from across Africa, from kitenge and kente to Ndebele, Kuba and Amazigh styles
- Avatars with real African hairstyles, skin tones and dress
- Landscape illustrations from across Africa, from the Sahel and the Sahara to Victoria Falls
- Digital art in styles from West, East, Southern, Central and North Africa and the Horn, including exclusive editions sold to one buyer each. Our Asian-style series are kept apart under World Styles.

Custom design
Our studio makes icon sets, illustrations, avatars, patterns, UI kits, 3D models, book covers and art series to your brief. Two rounds of changes are included, and the final files are yours.
How the digital art is made
Each piece is made with code, in styles drawn from textile, wall-painting and building traditions across Africa, plus a separate set of Asian styles. Nothing is traced or copied from another artist.
